How Reground Began

Welcome to Reground.

A little while ago I set up my website and a place for people to subscribe, and I promised to send something a few times a month. And here we are, about two months in, and I'm only now getting to my first proper note. Life, and all that.

Reground is a deeply personal project, and one I honestly didn't think I'd ever create.

About ten years ago I trained as a Personal Development Coach. I worked with a women's network, coaching women through change, and then moved into an Operations role where I got involved in coaching FTSE and Fortune ExCo groups across the UK and Australia. As I went deeper into that world, I found a lot of ego and toxicity in the rooms I was in. Eventually it led me to step back from the space altogether.

Over the last four years in particular, and especially since becoming a mother, I've felt so strongly called to working with women. Working with my Doula while I was pregnant showed me just how much is missing for Women. How little support, education and access there is for women moving through that time, but also generally. I mean, we have all heard the stories of medicines and room functionality and car safety being tested on men and never women. This issue seems to continually extend across so many areas of knowledge and education and resource.

At first I thought maybe I should become a Doula myself to help fill this gap and bring knowledge to women. But after having my daughter, grateful as I am for my birthing experience, I realised fairly quickly that the birthing room wasn't the place for me (and that's a-okay and indeed, a lesson I am grateful for!)

Several years on, out of the postpartum haze (and everything that came with it), I finally landed on the idea for Reground. A place to give women the space to be challenged gently, to have the confidence to challenge themselves in a way that actually fits them, and to physically come together and do the work.

I ran the first workshop a few weeks ago in the Scottish Borders. I was incredibly nervous going in, worried about my experience, anxious about speaking in front of others, unsure how the structure would land. But I was pleasantly surprised, and then genuinely moved, to hear how those women felt in the days afterwards.

So, delightfully, Reground keeps moving forward.

My first live workshop is coming up in August in the Borders, with another in Edinburgh in September. I'm equal parts nervous and excited. Excited to bring this work to women beyond my own circle, nervous to make sure I bring real value to those rooms, and to the other things I'm creating to support women to reground into themselves and step into who they're becoming.

More details on all of that to come in time.

My inbox is always open. I'd genuinely welcome your feedback, thoughts and questions, and I'll gladly reply.

Thank you so much for being on this journey with me.

Until next time; be gentle with yourself.
